Methodology

How This Calculator Works

The Salary Negotiation Calculator uses aggregated salary data pulled from multiple Pakistani and international compensation research sources, including Glassdoor, PayScale, ERI SalaryExpert, HRBS and RecruitGo. Those sources are combined into a base monthly range for each role and experience bracket, then adjusted for city cost-of-living and hiring-market differences using a standard multiplier system, with Karachi treated as the baseline and smaller cities scaled down proportionally.

Within each combination of role, city and experience level, the median figure represents the most statistically common salary being paid right now. The low figure represents a realistic floor, roughly the entry point for someone new to that bracket or working at a smaller local company. The high figure represents what strong performers and candidates at well funded or international employers achieve within the same role and experience bracket. All final numbers are rounded to the nearest thousand rupees so the range stays easy to quote in a conversation.

  3. 3Select your experience level based on total years of relevant professional experience in that role or field.
  4. 4Click Calculate My Salary Range to see the low, median and high monthly figures along with a visual range bar.
  5. 5Click See Your Take-Home Pay to convert the median figure into net monthly income after income tax and standard deductions.

How to Use Your Range When Negotiating

A salary range is only useful if you know where to stand inside it. The median is your anchor, not your ceiling, and the high end is what becomes reachable once you can point to specific results, in-demand skills, or a competing offer.

Use the numbered guidance below to turn the range into an actual negotiation position, and read the linked guides for word by word scripts you can adapt.

Negotiation playbook

Five ways to use this range in a real conversation

  • Always anchor your negotiation conversation near the median or slightly above it, not the low end.
  • If an offer comes in below your low estimate, ask what specific factors are driving that number before accepting.
  • Research whether the specific company is known to pay above or below market average using Glassdoor company reviews.
  • Remember that switching employers typically yields a 20 to 30 percent premium compared to internal increments, so use this range especially when evaluating a new offer.
  • If you are significantly above the high end of your current role's range, that is a strong signal to have a promotion or market adjustment conversation.
