The 4.0 scale
Most major Pakistani universities (LUMS, NUST, FAST, IBA, GIKI) use a 4.0 scale:
| Grade | Points |
|---|---|
| A / A+ | 4.0 |
| A- | 3.7 |
| B+ | 3.3 |
| B | 3.0 |
| B- | 2.7 |
| C+ | 2.3 |
| C | 2.0 |
| D | 1.0 |
| F | 0 |
The formula
GPA = Σ (credit_hours × grade_points) / Σ (credit_hours)
SGPA vs CGPA
- SGPA, semester GPA, based on that semester's courses only
- CGPA, cumulative across all completed semesters
Quick interpretation
- 3.7+, Dean's list, top of class
- 3.0+, Good standing
- Below 2.0, Probation in most universities
